Chris Knapp
Chris Knapp, owner and managing member of Knapp Strategic, is able to draw on his extensive experience from a 15+ year professional career in workforce development where he has held a variety of leadership roles with different size/type organizations. This includes working for a local non-profit focused on statewide healthcare workforce issues, establishing the Capital Area IT Council for Capital Area Michigan Works! In Lansing and serving as its inaugural Executive Director, and also serving as industry Talent Director with the State of Michigan’s Workforce Development Agency where he was brought on to head up their Information Technology & Media Cluster.
Most recently, Chris has been consulting for an organization called Beyond Our Barriers for Michigan which helps to connect individuals with disabilities with prospective employers and employment opportunities. In February 2019, Knapp Strategic launched a new initiative called Accessiversity Labs which utilizes hybrid tester teams consisting of individuals with disabilities (who often use screen readers and other adaptive technology) and experienced IT professionals to conduct accessibility assessments of customer web sites, mobile applications, software products, business processes, etc. for compliance with federal Section 508 standards and the latest WCAG 2.1 AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).
